Grant Leckie – Executive Director
Born in southwest Scotland, Grant has dedicated his career to youth soccer development. His journey began after high school when he pursued a Higher National Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development, laying the foundation for his extensive coaching career.
Grant’s early coaching experience included working with Glasgow Rangers’ Pro Youth Academy, where he trained select U9 and U12 boys teams, providing high-level development opportunities for promising young players. His expertise led to additional coaching roles within the Scottish Football Association’s community program, working with local Development Squads while earning his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sports Management.
After graduating, Grant expanded his coaching footprint in the U.S., joining Challenger Sports, where he coached across 20 states, led youth summer camps, and served as a professional trainer for organizations including:
✔ Lincoln Spirit Soccer Club
✔ Albert Lea Youth Soccer
✔ Albert Lea High School
In 2008, Grant took on a full-time leadership role in Cincinnati, overseeing staffing and programming across Ohio and Kentucky. His role allowed him to partner with over 200 organizations, helping develop programs, educate coaches, support clubs, and expand player development opportunities. As Regional Business Manager, he recruited, trained, and managed 100+ coaching staff annually, ensuring high-quality training and development for Challenger Sports’ partner clubs.
In his role as Executive Director of STAR Rush Cincinnati, Grant continues his player-first leadership approach, focusing on long-term development, structured coaching, and creating an inclusive club culture that fosters growth both on and off the field.

Email: yasmerom@starrush.org
Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Yonas developed a deep passion for soccer from an early age, beginning his playing career with TCYO soccer. He went on to compete at the varsity level for four years at Mount Healthy High School, serving as team captain for three seasons. Continuing his playing journey, he competed for one year at Miami University, and has remained actively involved in the sport through adult leagues and refereeing.
In 2008, Yonas earned an opportunity to try out for the Columbus Crew, but an ACL injury on the day of his tryout sidelined his professional aspirations. Despite the setback, he transitioned seamlessly into coaching, using his knowledge and experience to develop young players.
