Become a Referee - Make a Difference on the Field
Are you passionate about soccer and looking for a meaningful way to get involved? Whether you’re a player, a parent, or simply love the game, consider stepping up as a referee. The need for officials is growing, and your involvement could help ensure every match is played safely and fairly.
At STAR Rush, we’re seeing more games with limited officiating crews. Without new referees, we may soon face matches with only one center official and two club linesmen. You can help change that.
What Does It Take to Become a Referee?
- Age Requirement: You must be at least 14 years old (or turning 14 within the calendar year).
- Training: Complete referee training through the U.S. Soccer Learning Center. If you already have a coaching account, simply navigate to the Grassroots Referee course section.
Certifications:
- SafeSport training (required for those 18 and older).
- NFHS Concussion certification. Upload both certifications to your account at the Ohio South State Referee Committee (OSSRC).
Ready to Start?
Once your training and certifications are complete, you’ll be eligible to receive referee assignments and start officiating games in your community.
